Center starts state-of-the-art shoe testing laboratory in Ghaziabad, MSMEs and exporters will benefit

New Delhi, May 17 (). Ghaziabad-based National Testing Center (NTH), Northern Region, has set up a state-of-the-art shoe testing laboratory that will help provide comprehensive, reliable and high-accuracy shoe testing services to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), manufacturers, exporters, consumers and regulatory authorities across the country, the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, said on Sunday.

The government said the Advanced Shoe Testing Laboratory of NTH Ghaziabad is equipped with modern testing equipment and advanced infrastructure, capable of evaluating a variety of footwear products as per the relevant Indian Standards (IS). This includes industrial shoes, leather shoes, PVC shoes, sandals and slippers, children’s shoes, sports shoes, special protective shoes for industrial and hazardous work environments.

“The establishment of this state-of-the-art facility is an important initiative towards strengthening India’s quality assurance infrastructure for the fast-growing footwear sector and strengthening India’s manufacturing competitiveness,” a statement issued by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said.

The statement further said, “The laboratory will conduct critical performance and quality testing on a large scale to ensure high standards of safety, durability, comfort and functionality. The facility has been specifically designed to provide accurate, reliable and timely testing services at comparatively affordable charges to micro, small and medium enterprises and small-scale manufacturers, making quality assessment more accessible.

Strategically located in Ghaziabad near major shoe manufacturing hubs like Delhi-NCR, Kanpur and Agra, this laboratory will help in faster testing of samples, reduce logistics costs and ease of access for the shoe industry in North India.
