Chandigarh. The arbitrariness of aggregator companies is continuously increasing in Chandigarh. Going back to the show cause notices issued by the administration, because no offices exist at the addresses where these companies claim to have their offices. On October 14, the administration had called the regional managers of all the aggregator companies for a meeting.
The meeting was presided over by Secretary, Transport Department, Diprava Lakra (IAS). But the surprising thing was that the representative of any aggregator company did not reach the meeting. This situation clearly shows that the aggregator companies are neither taking the administration seriously, nor have any respect for the rules and laws made. The orders of the administration are being openly disobeyed, while the administration seems to be limited only to sending notices. On behalf of Chandigarh Tricity Cab Drivers Union, President – Amandeep Singh, Vice President – Surendra Khalsa, General Secretary – Rajinder Bhatti and former coordinator and social worker of the union Sumit Chhabra along with his colleagues were present in the meeting. Apart from this, representatives of Tricity Cab Association also participated in the meeting and expressed strong protest against the arbitrariness of the aggregator companies.
The administration has set October 25 as the last date for aggregator companies to respond. However, the current situation indicates that these companies are continuously ignoring the orders of the administration. If the administration still does not take strict action, it is certain that the city’s cab drivers will take to the streets in anger.
