Chandigarh. A large-scale gang war-like situation was witnessed in Sector-26 Timber Market, Chandigarh on Sunday, when notorious gangster Inderpreet Singh alias Perry was ambushed in his car and shot. This close associate of Lawrence Bishnoi gang had come to the market to meet an acquaintance of his. Meanwhile, the attackers in another car overtook his car and stopped it and fired five bullets continuously at it. Critically injured Parry was immediately taken to PGI Chandigarh, where doctors declared him brought dead. Parry was a special man of Bishnoi gang
Parry was long considered a highly trusted member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Due to his active role in Chandigarh and Punjab, several criminal cases were registered against him. Chandigarh Police has also arrested him several times. Due to this he was the target of many enemy gangs.
He had recently been married, and was said to be constantly worried about his safety. Even during his previous arrest, he had petitioned the court that there might be a conspiracy to murder him in jail. On this, the court had even ordered to check the safety of his food and drinks.
Important information found in CCTV footage
After the incident, the police searched the nearby CCTVs, which captured information about the attackers’ car and their movement. Several police teams are conducting raids, although no arrests have been made so far. The police and security agencies have become alert due to this murder, which took place in broad daylight in an area considered safe like Chandigarh.
Focus on two angles: The smell of gang war
The investigating agencies are investigating in depth mainly for two reasons –
1. Old enmity with Lucky Patial-Rohit Godara gang: There is a conflict going on between these two gangs for a long time. Parry was in the direct line of sight of this hostility.
2. Internal rift in Bishnoi group (Faction war): Sources say that internal rift has increased in Lawrence Bishnoi gang recently, and Parry could have been influenced by it.
Both the angles are forcing the police to consider this murder as a sign of gang war and not just a normal dispute.
Police vigilance increased in Chandigarh: UT administration and police have increased security in the city after this incident. Additional forces have been deployed at sensitive locations and coordination with Punjab-Haryana Police has also been enhanced in view of the inter-state gang connections.
