Raipur . The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has detected eight arms and explosive stockpiles of Naxalites during a coordinated anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh. Officials said on Saturday that a large quantity of weapons and explosives have been recovered in this operation. After receiving intelligence, an operation was conducted by CRPF in the dense forests of Adri, Harra and Madumpara villages falling in Pidiya and Kuppaguda areas of Bijapur. Security forces surrounded the area and launched a search operation. During this, the security forces recovered a large cache of weapons and explosives. One barrel grenade launcher (BGL) rifle, one 8 mm rifle, one 12-bore rifle and 21 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered. Security forces also found material to make IED, which included Cordex wire, safety fuse, electric wire, air gun rounds and various electronic components.
Apart from this, 58 different items like clothes used by Naxalites were also seized. Officials said that with this recovery a major conspiracy to create instability in the area was foiled.
Adri, Harra and Madumpara areas have been considered the hub of Naxalite activities. However, the operations being conducted by the CRPF have gradually reduced the influence of the rebels, which has increased the confidence of the villagers and paved the way for development works.
During a parallel operation in Gariaband district, CRPF and police teams detected another suspected hideout of Naxalites in Dandaipani forest. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) confirmed the presence of explosives, which included a 4 kg pressure IED and a cooker IED; Both were safely defused.
Police officials said a loaded rifle, interceptors, UBGL rounds, magazines, Cordex wire, gunpowder, firecrackers, medicines and items of daily use were also seized.
