Tirupati. A criminal complaint has been filed against actor Prakash Raj in a court in Tirupati. This matter is related to his alleged comments on Hindu gods and goddesses and Ramayana. The complainant alleges that the actor made such statements in public forums which hurt religious sentiments. This complaint was made by BJP leader and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Trust Board member G. Bhanuprakash Reddy has registered. He filed this case in the Additional Judicial Magistrate First Class Court of Tirupati on Monday. He says that Prakash Raj made provocative statements in many public programs including the Kerala Literature Festival. The complaint states that the actor had allegedly made a controversial comment regarding Lord Ram and Lakshman. It is alleged that he had said that Lord Ram and Lakshmana had come from North India to attack South India, and he had presented this by linking it to Lanka.
Bhanuprakash Reddy, in his complaint, has said that he saw the video on social media on April 17, in which Prakash Raj was making derogatory, factually incorrect and inflammatory statements about Lord Ram and Lakshman and the holy epic Ramayana. This video is rapidly going viral on social media and there is resentment and anger in the Hindu community regarding it.
The complainant alleges that the actor deliberately made such a statement to promote debates like ‘Aryan-Dravid’. This may create regional and social tension. Such comments are harmful to the cultural unity and religious harmony of India.
It has been said in the complaint that religious sentiments have been hurt by Prakash Raj’s statements. This is against public peace, so this matter should be considered seriously.
The complainant has demanded that the court accept the complaint, investigate the matter and if necessary, take action as per law by sending summons to the actor.
