Considering festivals in mind, decision on loudspeakers has been taken: Imam Omar Ahmed Ilyasi

New Delhi, 23 September (). Reacting to the decision to extend the time of playing loudspeakers in Delhi to 12 o’clock in the night, the chief of the All India Imam Sangathan, Dr. Imam Umar Ahmed Ilyasi, said that the decision has been taken keeping in mind the existing festivals and it should be seen in the same context.

He told , “I think the decision taken by the Chief Minister of Delhi has taken it according to the need and in view of the situation. Right now it is time for Navratri, Ramlila and Jagran are being organized everywhere. In such a situation, this decision has been taken temporarily and its aim is to give people a permanent system.

However, Dr. Ilyasi also said that it is very important to follow laws and sound standards related to noise pollution. He said, “Whether it is a temple, mosque, gurudwara or any other religious place, if there are programs within the scope of sound rules, no one should have any problem.”

He said that many times people living in the neighborhood may have trouble with loud voice. He further said, “Someone can get sick, someone’s child is preparing for the exam, or the elderly need sleep, we must take care that no one else is suffering from the celebration of our religious sentiments.”

Dr. Ilyasi denied this issue to link religion. He said, “The sound of sound standard is for everyone. Whether it is Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christian. It does not matter. This law is made for your health and goodness of society.

He said that it is the responsibility of all citizens to follow the law and it is above all religions. He further said, “If the standard of sound is applied equally to all the shrines, then there will be no problem in the society.”

This statement of Dr. Ilyasi has come at a time when the Delhi government has extended the deadline of loudspeakers keeping in mind the special occasions and festivals, on which different reactions are coming out.
