Bhilwara. Under the Samadhan project run by Hindustan Zinc in collaboration with BAIF, a coffee rally and exhibition was successfully organized in Naya Lakshmipura and Sultanpura villages of Rampura-Agucha cluster. The main objective of this program was to make the animal farmers aware about scientific animal management and advanced breed improvement. Around 70 cattle farmers participated enthusiastically in both these exhibitions and showcased the health and breed of their calves. Farmers showcased calves from advanced breeds like Holstein Friesian, Murrah and Gir, showing the growing influence of modern animal husbandry.
On this occasion, Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry Department Gopal Sharma, CSR Head Bhuvnesh Sharma, Bhadav Ki Kotri Administrator Hungami Lal Gurjar, Badla Administrator Asha Devi and other distinguished citizens were present. Senior veterinary officer Dr. Mohammad Rafiq told in the program that such rallies inspire farmers to adopt modern technology. He stressed the importance of timely vaccination, deworming and balanced diet. The team of veterinary experts evaluated the calves based on their physical appearance, bone strength and general health. Besides, farmers were also given suggestions for prevention of diseases and better milk production in future. This initiative will also strengthen the dairy business in the area. The villagers appreciated the efforts of Hindustan Zinc’s Samadhan project to improve rural livelihoods.
The Samadhan project, run by Hindustan Zinc since 2016, focuses on innovative agricultural measures, designed to increase the productivity of local farmers and make them aware of and adopt sustainable farming methods. Farmers’ livelihoods have improved through the adoption of new farming techniques through training programmes, advice on irrigation and assistance in animal husbandry. So far, more than 1.4 lakh farmers have been benefited under this programme.
