New Delhi. Delhi Police has registered an FIR following the suicide of a 16-year-old Class 10 student at Rajendra Place metro station on November 18. The student has been identified as Shaurya Patil, who was a student of a school in Central Delhi. According to the FIR, Shaurya’s father Pradeep Patil, a resident of Karol Bagh, said that his son was under constant mental pressure due to alleged harassment by several teachers. Patil said his son often complained that teachers used to scold him, humiliate him and harass him over small things. The FIR states that despite verbal complaints to teachers and the principal, the alleged behavior did not stop. According to the FIR, Patil was in Kolhapur for his mother’s surgery on the day of the incident. Shaurya left for school at around 7:15 in the morning. At around 2:45 pm, Patil received a call, informing him that his son had been found lying beneath the Rajendra Place metro station. He directed the caller to take the child to BLK Kapoor Hospital, where doctors later declared him brought dead.
It is recorded in the FIR that the boy had allegedly jumped from platform number 2 of the metro station.
The FIR further stated that Shaurya’s classmates Ayaan Sachdeva, Daksh and Ashmeer told the family that in the past few days, a teacher had repeatedly called his parents and threatened to issue a transfer certificate (TC). Another teacher allegedly scolded and humiliated him in class on November 18. According to the FIR, the principal was present during the incident, but did not intervene.
Police recovered Shaurya’s school bag from the spot, in which a suicide note was found. According to the FIR, the teen apologized to his family and wrote that the actions of the school teachers had pushed him to this situation. She also expressed her wish that action be taken so that no other child suffers and asked that her organs be donated if possible.
