New Delhi, October 26 (). Nowadays, swelling of feet has become a common problem in today’s busy life. Be it standing for a long time, sitting continuously in the office or traveling for hours, all these directly affect the feet. Swelling occurs when fluid accumulates in some part of the body. Generally these are not harmful, but if there is frequent or excessive swelling then it can also be a sign of some hidden problem in the body.

In Ayurveda it is called ‘Shoth’, which arises from the imbalance of Vata, Pitta and Kapha. At the same time, according to science, obstruction in blood circulation, excess of salt or stagnation of water in the body are considered to be its main reasons.

According to Ayurveda, when toxic elements increase in the body or blood flow becomes weak, a condition of swelling occurs. At the same time, from a scientific point of view, swelling in our feet occurs when the pressure in the blood arteries increases and fluids accumulate in the tissues. But it can be controlled by improving lifestyle and adopting some simple home remedies.

Salt in lukewarm water: Salt i.e. sodium helps in keeping the body fluids balanced. When feet are soaked in lukewarm salt water, it helps to draw out excess water from the skin pores. In Ayurveda it is called ‘Swedan Kriya’, which removes swelling and stiffness of the body. This process not only reduces swelling but also gives relief to the muscles.

Ice compress: According to modern science, ice compress shrinks the blood vessels and reduces fluid leakage, thereby reducing swelling. In Ayurveda, it has been called ‘cool treatment’, which provides relief from burning sensation, swelling and pain. Keep in mind that do not do this remedy for too long, only 10 to 15 minutes is enough.

Apple Cider Vinegar: Potassium and anti-inflammatory properties are found in apple cider vinegar which helps in removing excess water from the body. According to Ayurveda, it balances the doshas of the body and helps in eliminating inflammation from its roots. Mixing it in lukewarm water and soaking the feet or lightly massaging it is very beneficial.

Ginger: Ginger is considered a natural medicine in Ayurveda. The gingerol present in it works to reduce swelling and pain. When ginger juice is applied on the affected area, it penetrates the skin and improves blood flow. Science also believes that ginger is a natural anti-inflammatory agent.

Turmeric Milk: Curcumin found in turmeric is a powerful anti-oxidant that reduces inflammation in the body and keeps blood flow balanced. In Ayurveda, turmeric has been called Haridra, which has the ability to purify blood and reduce inflammation. Drinking turmeric mixed with warm milk before sleeping at night gives relief to the body and the difference in swelling is felt the next day.
