A shocking incident has taken place in America’s Georgia state, where a man of Indian origin shot and killed his wife and three relatives. According to the police, the incident occurred due to a domestic dispute. The accused has been identified as 51-year-old Vijay Kumar, who has been arrested. The incident occurred around 2:30 am on Friday, when police received a call about shots fired in the Brook Ivy Court area. Upon reaching the spot, police found bodies of four people inside the house, all of whom had been shot. The deceased have been identified as Vijay Kumar’s wife, Meemu Dogra (43), Gaurav Kumar (33), Nidhi Chander (37), and Harish Chander (38).
Police officials said that three children present in the house at the time of the incident survived by hiding in a cupboard. Among them was Vijay Kumar and Meemu Dogra’s 12-year-old child, who bravely called 911 and reported the incident. Due to this call, the police reached the spot within a few minutes. The children were safe and were later handed over to a family member.
Firing took place after a fight with his wife!
According to police, Vijay Kumar and his wife had a fight at their Atlanta home. They then went to the house in Brook Ivy Court, where other relatives were also staying with their child. There the dispute escalated and turned into violence, leading to firing.
Accused Vijay Kumar arrested
The accused fled the scene after the incident, but his vehicle was found parked in the driveway. After this, the police conducted a search operation in the surrounding area with the help of K-9 unit and arrested Vijay Kumar from a nearby forest area. The Indian Embassy in Atlanta has expressed deep sorrow over this incident. The Indian Mission issued a statement on social media saying that it is deeply saddened by this family tragedy and is providing all possible assistance to the affected family. Investigation of the case is ongoing.
