Jaipur. On the occasion of Congress Foundation Day, State President Govind Singh Dotasra inaugurated the Foundation Day programs organized across the state by hoisting the party flag at Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee Headquarters, Jaipur. On this occasion, a symposium was also organized at the headquarters, in which Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie, former state president CP Joshi and Congress leader Sunil Sharma expressed their views on the ideology, history and current challenges of the Congress. Addressing the symposium, State President Govind Singh Dotasara said that Congress has been a nationalist party that played a leading role in the country’s freedom struggle. He said that the great leaders of Congress gave independence to the country through struggle and sacrifice, but today such forces are in power at the Center who are misusing the government powers and curbing the freedom of the common citizen. Dotasara said that today there is democracy in the country, but the common man is forced to think whether he can express his views freely. He alleged that the freedom and democracy which was envisioned by Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru is being continuously attacked by the Central Government. He also raised questions on the foreign policy and said that the neighboring countries are not showing goodwill towards India, which shows the failure of the foreign policy.
Referring to the schemes of the UPA regime, the State President said that public welfare schemes like MNREGA, RTI and Food Security Act are being weakened. He alleged that an atmosphere of dictatorship is being created in the country and one person wants to impose his will on the entire country.
Dotasara accused the BJP of dividing the society and eliminating civil rights given under the Constitution. He said that the RTI Act has been weakened and the right to work given to the poor under MNREGA is being taken away. The scheme has been weakened by deleting the names of beneficiaries of the Food Security Scheme.
Attacking the state government on the issue of Aravalli mountain range, Dotasara said that by giving a new definition of Aravalli, the environmental balance of the state is being endangered. Describing it as the biggest scam in the history of the state, he said that a conspiracy is being hatched to hand over Aravalli to mining. If Aravali ends, the desert will expand in the state and the water crisis will deepen.
He said that public awareness campaign is being conducted across the state at district, block, mandal and booth level on the issue of MNREGA and Aravalli ranges. Answers will be sought from party officials and public representatives who are negligent in the programs.
Dotasara said that on the instructions of the All India Congress Committee, a nationwide movement will be started from January 5 against the weakening of MNREGA, in which the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee will participate with full force. He called upon the Congressmen to take a pledge that they will strengthen the fight to protect democracy, MNREGA and Aravali by taking the party’s ideology to every village and every village.
