Bijapur, November 11 (). Six Maoists have been killed in an encounter between police and Maoists in the National Park area of ​​Bijapur, Chhattisgarh on Tuesday. Security forces had started the search operation after receiving information about the presence of Maoists in this area.

According to Superintendent of Police Dr. Jitendra Yadav, there was intermittent firing between the security forces and the Maoists. During this period, bodies of 6 Maoists, automatic weapons, sten guns, rifles and explosive materials were recovered from the encounter site.

Efforts are on to identify those killed in the encounter. It is being told that a high-profile commander is also included among the killed Maoists. The search operation is still going on in the area. The firing has still not stopped completely. At present, the deployment of security forces has been increased in the area. This action of the security forces is being considered an important step in the anti-Naxal campaign.

Speaking to news agency , Bastar Range Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P said, “This success is a big blow to the Maoist organisation, which is now leaderless and directionless. Security forces have sent additional teams to the surrounding areas to cordon off other absconding Maoist cadres.”

He said that three female and three male Naxalites were killed in a joint operation by security forces. Additional forces have been deployed in the area. Complete information can be given only after the encounter.

At the same time, even before this, there was an encounter between security forces and Maoists in Annaram forests of Tarlagud area of ​​Bijapur, in which the security forces caught an injured Maoist alive from the encounter site during the search operation. He was immediately taken into custody and sent to the hospital for treatment. His condition is said to be stable. Besides, his interrogation has also been started.

According to local villagers, the sound of firing was heard for several kilometers. Many people remained locked in their homes out of fear. The administration has appealed to the villagers to maintain peace and immediately report any suspicious activity.
