Everyone should work together to strengthen democracy and increase voting percentage: Haribhau Bagde

Jaipur. Governor Haribhau Bagde said that there is a need for collective efforts by all to continuously strengthen India’s democracy and constitutional system. He called upon citizens to increase awareness about voting. The Governor said that India is the world’s largest democracy with more than 100 crore voters, whose foundation rests on a rich culture of tolerance. Emphasizing the need to adopt a simultaneous election system to reduce election expenditure, he said that the amount saved can be used for national development. He called upon all concerned parties to make effective efforts to increase the voting percentage in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
The Governor said that after independence, after the framing of the Constitution, the first general elections were held in the year 1952, in which ballot boxes of different colors were used for the candidates. Today, as a result of technological advancement, the voting process through EVM has become more simple, transparent and easy.
The Governor said that the work done by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) across the state for voter list revision is highly commendable and important. He said that the voter lists are being prepared by the Election Commission with complete accuracy, in which transparency has been ensured at all levels with the participation of BLOs as well as representatives of political parties.
Earlier, the Governor visited the exhibition organized on National Voters’ Day and wrote a message to this effect on the canvas, describing voting as a fundamental right of democracy. He also released a documentary based on Voter List Special Intensive Revision – 2026, which depicts the entire journey of this campaign. During the program, their experiences were also shared by District Election Officers, EROs and BLOs.
In the ceremony, the Voter’s Oath was read out by the Governor. A total of 79 officers and employees of various categories including District Election Officer, Sub District Election Officer, Electoral Registration Officer, Supervisor, Booth Level Officer were given state level awards for their significant contribution in election related activities in the state. These include Rajsamand Collector Arun Kumar Hasija, Alwar and Khairthal-Tijara Collector Artika Shukla, Balotra Collector Sushil Kumar, Dholpur Collector Srinidhi BT. And District Public Relations Officer of Sri Ganganagar, Anil Kumar Shakya is the head.
In the program, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, State Election Commissioner Rajeshwar Singh and Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan also expressed their views on the occasion of National Voters’ Day.
