Many people have been taken to hospital after complaining of nausea, dizziness and restlessness. According to local people, the gas suddenly spread with a strong smell on Wednesday afternoon, causing panic in the entire area.

This area of ​​Kenduadih has been declared a danger zone due to the underground coal fire. According to local people, two women named Lalita Devi and Priyanka Devi have died due to gas leakage. However, the cause of death of both the women will be clear only after the postmortem report comes.

A committee has been formed to investigate the matter.

Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan has formed a committee to investigate the matter and has directed the BCCL management to provide immediate relief to the people of the affected area. There is anger among the local people over the death of two women, due to which protests are taking place. In early September, a major accident occurred due to landslide in the mine of Bharat Coking Coal Limited in Katras of Baghmara in Dhanbad district. A service van carrying laborers fell into a gorge more than 300 feet deep. Six laborers traveling in the van died in the accident.
