To commemorate the completion of 150 years of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Vande Mataram@150 and Swadeshi Sankalp Programme’ was organized in the Government Secretariat premises on Monday. Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant was the chief guest in this program imbued with patriotism and indigenous spirit. The program started with the inspirational address of Chief Secretary Sudhanshu Pant. He said that this occasion of completion of 150 years of Vande Mataram is a very glorious and proud moment. Vande Mataram, written by Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay and composed by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, was sung publicly for the first time in the year 1896 and thereafter became the symbol of the entire movement. He said that in its journey of 150 years, Vande Mataram has continuously inspired the cultural, spiritual and nationalistic consciousness of India. On the completion of 150 years of Vande Mataram, a National Remembrance Initiative has been launched by the Central Government to revive the spirit of this song and its historical significance. Under this, citizens, especially youth and students, will be connected to the original national spirit of this song through countrywide festivals.
After the address of the Chief Secretary, a mass singing was organized in the Secretariat premises on the theme of “One Place, One Time, One Song – Vande Mataram”. All the officers, employees and people present sang ‘Vande Mataram’ in unison. After this, the Chief Secretary administered oath to everyone under the ‘Swadeshi Sankalp’ to use local products, give priority to Indian products and protect the environment.
Apart from various departments, Chief Secretary, Principal Government Secretary, Government Secretary, Head of Department, officers and employees were present in the program. It is noteworthy that under the series of ‘Vande Mataram @ 150’ programs, Swadeshi resolutions and national anthem singing programs will also be organized in municipal bodies, Panchayat Raj institutions, educational institutions, hospitals and police stations in the coming days.
