Chandigarh. In response to a question asked in the Lok Sabha by MP Deepender Hooda, the Government of India said that the Haryana Government did not make any proposal to host the 2036 Olympic Games. Deependra Hooda said that Asian Games in 1982 and Commonwealth Games in 2010 were held in Delhi, for the preparation of which lakhs of crores were spent, roads, flyovers were built and there was a lot of development. At that time, Haryana also got the direct benefit of the development that took place in Delhi. Now, so much money will be spent from the country’s treasury in the name of development in the preparation of Commonwealth and Olympics in Gujarat, which will change the face of Gujarat. It is surprising that Haryana fills Mother India’s bag with medals, but Gujarat gets the prize. Deependra Hooda said that it is very sad that the players of Haryana, the mine of medals, are dying under the dilapidated structures while practicing in the field. Deependra Hooda said that the Central Government accepted that the Gujarat Government made a proposal regarding the 2036 Olympics, whereas the Haryana Government did not take any concrete initiative despite the achievements of its players. This is a living proof of the anti-sports mentality and gross incompetence of the Haryana government. Even before this, the rail coach factory of Sonipat and the international airport of Meham were shifted to other states but the Haryana government remained silent. Due to the silence of the government, the state is suffering huge losses. If the state develops, the youth will get employment. Deepender Hooda demanded that Haryana be immediately proposed as a co-host or major venue for the 2036 Olympic Games including the Commonwealth Games 2030. A special package should be announced for world-class sports infrastructure and Olympic-level stadiums in Haryana. Deepender Hooda said that the Haryana government should tell what efforts it has made to host or co-host the Commonwealth Games 2030 and Olympics 2036. Because Haryana, with only about 2.5 percent of the country’s population, wins the largest share of India’s medals in the Olympics, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. The players of Haryana bring glory to the country by emerging from the clay arenas, but when the opportunity comes to give recognition to the state at the international level, the Haryana government proves to be a complete failure. It is clear from the government’s reply in Parliament that Haryana, which has won the most medals for the country, was neither considered as host, nor co-host, nor worthy of serious consideration in any category. MP Deepender Hooda, through his question, had sought complete details asking whether the state of Haryana, given its excellent sporting record and significant contribution to India’s medal tally in national and international events, is under consideration as a venue or co-host for any category of the 2036 Olympic Games. Has any particular state or city been proposed, recommended or supported by the government to host the Olympic Games?
