Shimla. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda (JP Nadda) participated in the cleanliness drive organized at Chauda Maidan during his visit to Shimla on Saturday morning. During this, he cleaned the statue of Bharat Ratna and Constitution maker Bhimrao Ambedkar, did cleanliness work by pouring water on the statue premises and later paid tribute to him by offering flowers on the statue. Talking to the media on this occasion, JP Nadda said that Mahatma Gandhi had given special emphasis on the importance of cleanliness during the country’s freedom movement and tried to link it with public participation. He said that in the year 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the ‘Clean India’ campaign and gave it the shape of a widespread people’s movement. As a result, today awareness towards cleanliness has increased across the country and common people are also participating in this campaign. Nadda said that positive changes have been seen in the society regarding cleanliness. He said that whenever he gets an opportunity to participate in any public program, he also takes part in cleanliness campaigns from time to time and tries to make people aware about it.
He said that during his stay in Shimla, cleaning the statue of Bhimrao Ambedkar, participating in the cleanliness campaign and paying tribute to the creator of the Constitution was a special opportunity for him. He said that the thoughts and contributions of Bhimrao Ambedkar inspire the countrymen and it is the responsibility of every citizen to show respect to him.
Union Minister JP Nadda said that the cleanliness campaign is not a limited period program, but it is a continuous mass movement, which needs to be taken forward continuously. He said that to make the country clean and healthy, every citizen will have to fulfill his responsibility and make cleanliness a part of his daily lifestyle. He expressed confidence that the resolve of Clean India will become stronger on the strength of public participation.
