Udaipur. Hindustan Zinc Limited (BSE: 500188 | NSE: HINDZINC), the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and among the top 10 silver producers globally, started FY 2026-27 with its best ever Q1 performance. The company recorded its highest-ever quarterly revenue from operations at ₹13,747 crore, up 77% over the same period last year. At the same time, it recorded the highest ever quarterly EBITDA of ₹8,074 crore, which increased by 109%. The company’s net profit also reached a record high of ₹5,469 crore, up 145% year-on-year. This strong financial performance was driven by the highest ever Q1 mined metal production of 268 kilo tonnes (KT) and the lowest ever quarterly zinc production cost of US$851 per tonne. This reflects the company’s strong operational capabilities, effective cost management and its competitive edge in the industry. Hindustan Zinc has further strengthened its position among the world’s lowest cost zinc producers by registering record profits, strong cash flows and improved margins. At the same time, the company has also laid a strong foundation for long-term growth.
Change in leadership: Amarendu Prakash becomes the new CEO and whole-time director of Hindustan Zinc.
The Board of Directors of the company has appointed Amarendu Prakash as CEO and Whole-time Director of Hindustan Zinc Limited with effect from August 1, 2026. Mr. Amarendu Prakash is one of the experienced industry leaders in the steel sector of India and has over three decades of experience. Before this, he was the Chairman and Managing Director of Steel Authority of India Limited from 2023 to 2026.
During his tenure he led several important initiatives such as operational efficiency, expansion of production capacity, digital transformation and improving the performance of the organization. Under his leadership SAIL, one of India’s largest steel companies, achieved many significant achievements.
Amit Gupta becomes Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Hindustan Zinc
Amit Gupta has taken over the charge of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Hindustan Zinc Limited with effect from June 1, 2026. Chartered Accountant Mr. Amit Gupta has over 20 years of experience. He has deep expertise in the areas of financial strategy, capital management, business transformation, cost reduction and corporate governance. He has held many important responsibilities in various Vedanta Group companies.

The share of renewable energy in total electricity consumption increased to 22%.

A first interim dividend of ₹11 per share was declared, amounting to ₹4,648 crore.
