Horrific road accident in Gurugram: Police's ERV collides with water tanker during patrolling, two head constables killed, one seriously injured

Gurugram. Two policemen were killed, while another constable was seriously injured in a tragic road accident in Haryana’s Gurugram late Monday night. The accident occurred when a police Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) which was on patrol collided with a water tanker parked on the road. The collision was so severe that the police car was blown to pieces. According to the information received, ERV train number 254 was on regular patrolling near Kheda Khurmupur of Farrukhnagar at around 11 pm on Monday night. Meanwhile, a police vehicle hit a water tanker attached to a tractor parked on the road from behind. After the accident, both the head constable and the constable were badly trapped inside the vehicle. After a lot of effort, the nearby local people broke the parts of the vehicle and took out the three policemen and immediately took them to the local hospital. When taken to the hospital, doctors declared both the head constables dead. The deceased have been identified as Head Constable Chhotalal and Head Constable Anil. At the same time, the third fellow constable Dharmendra, who was seriously injured in the accident, was immediately referred to Medanta Hospital after giving first aid, where at present his condition remains critical.
Police officials investigating the case say that the main reason for the accident was the negligence of the tanker driver. Neither any light was on nor any reflector was installed on that water tanker standing on the road. Due to darkness, the policeman driving the ERV could not see the tanker standing in front in time and this resulted in a major accident.
The police have kept the bodies of both the deceased policemen in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital, whose postmortem will be conducted today. Police have registered a case against the driver who parked the tanker negligently and have started further legal action and investigation.
