Chandigarh. A big mahapanchayat was held at Krantiman Park in Hisar on Monday to improve the education system and in the interest of students. Amidst the huge crowd gathered from across the country and the state, Khap representatives formed a 31-member committee regarding the demands of the students and gave a five-day ultimatum to the government. During this, the representatives submitted a memorandum to the Divisional Commissioner and IG of Hisar and placed their demands before them. President of Chhatra Hit Mahapanchayat, Anantram Tanwar said that many Khap representatives, social people, politicians and student organizations have come together and brainstormed regarding the problems being faced by the students. He warned that if no appropriate steps are taken by the government soon, then a big decision will be taken by organizing a big panchayat again. Pappu Yadav, MP from Purnia, Bihar, said that he will raise this entire matter in the country’s Parliament and raise his voice. He said that Jannayak Chaudhary Devi Lal, Ch. Like great men like Charan Singh, we all have to fight together to take education to the last mile. Yadav said that Panchayats are not organized for any particular religion but to fight against injustice. He said that the BJP government thinks of destroying the education system, hence today capitalists and blind devotees are dominant. At the same time, the government has spoiled the employment system in the country. Condemning the police and the BJP government for the Hisar incident, Pappu Yadav said that the people here have no expectations from the Chief Minister of Haryana, hence we will have to fight from Delhi for justice. Former Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala said that his aim is to save educational institutions from saffronisation. He said that today in all the educational institutions, a conspiracy is being hatched to limit the thinking of the students by teaching them the lessons of one ideology through seminars. Not only this, BJP meetings are also being held in universities. Dushyant Chautala said that as a student, he appeals to all the Khap representatives who came to the Mahapanchayat that there is a need to save the education system today. At the same time, the government is also becoming a hindrance in the recruitment of teachers in universities. Dushyant said that when someone raises his voice against all these wrong policies of the government, his voice is suppressed using the government machinery. Condemning the police action in Hisar, he said that students and activists have been tortured by the police and they should get justice.
Youth leader Digvijay Chautala said that it is not at all justified to treat students like terrorists for raising their voice and breaking two flower pots. He said that BJP-affiliated organizations ABVP, Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad are given immediate permission to organize programs in universities, whereas organizations following the ideology of great men like Constitution maker Bhimrao Ambedkar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Jannayak Chaudhary Devi Lal are not being given the right to present their views in educational institutions. Not only this, loot is being made in the name of slips from the staff for the programs of organizations associated with BJP. Whereas in Haryana, people from outside the state are being appointed to high positions. In the Mahapanchayat, Digvijay also raised the demand for holding direct student union elections in Haryana.
Many student organizations participating in the Mahapanchayat raised many serious issues like fee hike, privatization of education, cases of harassment and suicide of students, police filing cases when they raised their rights, bad food in hostels and lack of proper living arrangements. Student leaders clearly said that today the government is bent on privatizing education and because of this the education system is coming to a standstill. Education has become very expensive for children from ordinary homes, due to which youth are not able to realize their dreams. The government is only dividing people in the name of religion. The government is shirking its responsibility in running the universities, due to which capitalists are busy running the education system and schools and colleges have become mere hubs for business. Self finance courses should be stopped in universities and the government should make arrangements for free education for the youth.
