Chandigarh. The Central Government announced the award of Padmashree to Inderjit Singh Sidhu of Chandigarh in the field of social work for the year 2026. Sidhu gives the message of cleanliness by collecting garbage from roads, parks and public places every day. Many times people consider them crazy and make fun of them, but they never take this to heart. Their only objective is to maintain cleanliness, no matter what people say to them. Very happy with the announcement of Padmashree award, Inderjit Singh Sidhu said that I want to thank the country of India. An elderly person like us is being given Padma Shri. This makes me very happy. He said that this is not a matter to give any message. It is the duty of every person to maintain cleanliness around him and not spread dirt, but people make dirt, maybe they like to make dirt, we hate dirt. I go out to clean up the mess myself. During the conversation, Sidhu became emotional while mentioning one thing. He said that it is sad that when he is removing garbage from the streets, he is taunted by the people. Many times he was even called mad. He said that people call me crazy. I just want to say that I’m not crazy. I can’t tolerate dirt. The work that Sidhu is doing is a message to our young generation that we should maintain cleanliness around us.
