Colombo, February 15 (). Pakistan had to face a crushing defeat by 61 runs in the 27th match of T20 World Cup 2026 against India on Sunday. After the match, Pakistani captain Salman Ali Aga, while counting the reasons for the defeat, said that if 3-4 wickets fall in the powerplay, then the team always keeps chasing the match.
Pakistan team, which was chasing the target of 176 runs against India, lost 4 wickets in 4.5 overs. After this it became difficult for the team to recover and Pakistan was reduced to just 114 runs in 18 overs.
After this crushing defeat, the Pakistani captain said, “We entered this match with four spinners, but today they had a bad day. There was lack of execution on some important occasions. The start in batting was also not good. If 3-4 wickets fall in the powerplay, you are always chasing the match.”
He said, “The pitch was better in the second innings, but we did not play according to the conditions. Emotions are always at their peak in such matches, we just have to manage them.”
After losing 1 out of 3 matches, the Pakistani team has fallen to the third position in the points table of Group-A. The net run rate of this team is -0.403, while USA (+0.787) has reached second place after winning 2 out of 4 matches. India has entered the ‘Super-8’ with a hat-trick of wins in the T20 World Cup 2026.
The Pakistani team will play its last league match against Namibia on 18th February, by winning which this team can qualify for Super-8. Captain Agha said, “We have played many such matches. Now the next match is in two days and we have to focus on that. We have to win that match and qualify for the next round, after that it will be a new tournament.”
