Amritsar . A big news has come out from Amritsar, where the Commissionerate Police has exposed a big network of illegal arms smuggling. Police have arrested 6 people in this case, including a minor. 7 modern pistols have been recovered from them. Initial police investigation has revealed that these accused were in contact with a foreign handler sitting in Portugal. The same handler was smuggling illegal weapons into India through Pakistan. These weapons were to be further delivered to the criminals, which could pose a major threat to law and order. Police believe that this is not a small gang, but an organized network, whose links extend across the border. In this case, an FIR has been registered in Amritsar police station cantonment and the police is now busy investigating the back and forth links of this entire network. The effort is to reach every person associated with this gang and break the entire chain.
At the same time, even before this, Punjab Police had got another big success. Counter Intelligence Team in Bathinda averted a potential terrorist threat in time. Here the police arrested 2 accused and recovered 2 hand grenades from them. Initial investigation has revealed that these grenades were also part of an illegal supply chain, which was linked to elements from across the border. Their aim was to disturb peace in Punjab and harm public safety.
Punjab Police has made it clear that its zero tolerance policy against illegal arms smuggling, terrorist activities and organized crime will continue. Police say that maintaining peace and security in the state is its biggest priority, and every necessary step will be taken for this.
