From March 1, 2026, the ticket booking methods for Indian Railways passengers will change. The UTS mobile app, which was previously used to book unreserved, local and platform tickets, has been officially discontinued. It has now been replaced by a new, all-in-one app, RailOne. The Railways’ IT branch, Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) announced this on February 27.
UTS app closed, RailOne now new platform
CRIS clarified that from March 1, all UTS app services have been transferred to RailOne app. This means passengers will now have to download RailOne to book unreserved, local and platform tickets. RailOne app was launched by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on July 1, 2025. This app has been designed to provide multiple services to passengers on a single platform.
What will happen to R-Wallet balance?
The biggest question is what will happen to the R-Wallet balance stored in the UTS app? According to Railways, the balance of R-Wallet will be transferred to RailOne app. However, it is necessary to register on RailOne with the same mobile number used to create an account on the UTS app. Note that R-Wallet balance cannot be transferred. This means that if you change your mobile number, the old balance cannot be used. In such a situation, you can either clear the balance by purchasing a ticket or surrender your wallet and get a refund.
How to surrender your R-Wallet?
If you want to close your R-Wallet, you have to go to the ‘Profile’ section of the app and select the ‘Surrender Wallet’ option. After this a code will be sent to your registered mobile number. Refund can be availed by visiting any UTS counter with this code and your mobile number. However, ₹30 clerk charge will be deducted.
What’s included in the RailOne app?
RailOne is a big app that apart from UTS ticketing, also offers features like live train tracking, complaint lodging, e-catering, porter booking and last-mile taxi booking. As before, reserved tickets will be available only on IRCTC.
