Pune . The passing out parade of the 150th course at the National Defense Academy (NDA) was organized grandly on Saturday. The parade was inspected by Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. On this occasion, while addressing the passing out cadets, he shared the experiences of his 42 years of military life. General Upendra Dwivedi said, “Inspecting the passing out parade of the 150th course, today is a very proud and personally special day for me. 42 years ago I passed through the same parade ground. Today as I am preparing to take off my uniform and you are going to wear yours, I can say with full confidence that what starts in the NDA stays with you throughout your life.” The Army Chief appreciated the Parade Commander, all the cadets and the award winners. He gave special congratulations to the ‘Cheetah Squadron’ and also mentioned four foreign cadets from 12 friendly countries. He said that these youth coming from different countries are leaving united with the same values and the same soil.
Throwing light on the current security scenario, General Dwivedi said, “Today threats do not come in uniform or at declared fronts. ‘Operation Sindhu’ has proved with what precision and determination national power can be projected. The same high standard now rests on the shoulders of all of you.”
Emphasizing on unity, he said that the unity of the three armies is the foundation of NDA. He advised the young officers to pay special attention to three qualities: attitude, adaptability and competence.
Referring to the achievements of women cadets, the Army Chief said, “Women cadets have lived up to every standard. War and service are gender-neutral.” He also thanked their families who supported them.
General Dwivedi praised the hard work of the trainers and staff and reminded the passing out cadets that ‘Seva Paramo Dharma’ is the basic mantra of this profession. The passing out parade of NDA is one of the most prestigious military events in the country, with hundreds of cadets joining the Army, Navy and Air Force every year.
