New Delhi . Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the Emerging Science and Technology Innovation Conference (ESTIC) 2025 at the Bharat Mandapam. During this, he also launched the Rs 1 lakh crore Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme Fund, which aims to strengthen India’s scientific and technological capabilities. Addressing the gathering present at the programme, Prime Minister Modi said that there are some moments in history which inspire many generations. A few years ago, our children saw the journey of Chandrayaan and also saw its success and this success became an opportunity to attract them towards science in a tremendous way. He said, “This era of the 21st century is the era of the most unprecedented changes. Today we are witnessing a new shift in the global order. You all have been familiar with the vision of Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan for a long time. While doing research and focus, we have also added Jai Vigyan and Jai Anusandhan to it.”
PM Modi said that we have created the National Research Foundation, so that research and innovation can be scaled-up in our universities. Along with this, we have also started Research Development Scheme and have earmarked an amount of Rs 1 lakh crore for it.
He also said that when science gains scale, when innovation becomes inclusive, when technology brings change, the foundation for great achievements is laid. PM Modi said, “India is no longer a consumer of technology, but has become a leader of transformation through technology. Today India has the most successful digital public infrastructure in the world.”
During the event, Prime Minister Modi said, “To make India a modern ecosystem of innovation, we are focusing on ‘ease of doing research’. India is today shaping the global framework for ethical and human-centric artificial intelligence.”
