New Delhi, February 12 (). The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) clearly stated that reports of completion of investigation into Air India Flight AI-171 crash are false and speculative. The investigation is still going on. No final conclusion has been reached.
The AAIB conducts investigations strictly in accordance with India’s responsibilities under the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Regulations 2025, and ICAO Annex 13. Aircraft accident investigation is a technical, evidence-based process aimed at determining root causes and enhancing safety.
The initial report released earlier gave the actual information available at that time. Upon completion of the investigation, the final investigation report will be published as per the prescribed international rules. The final investigation report will include findings and safety recommendations.
The AAIB urges media organizations to exercise restraint and avoid premature speculation. Reporting without verification causes unnecessary concern among people and undermines the integrity of professional investigations.
The AAIB is fully committed to the highest standards of transparency, integrity of process and aviation safety.
Let us tell you that Minister of State for Civil Aviation Muralidhar Mohol had told in the Rajya Sabha earlier this month that the AAIB is investigating all aspects of the Air India flight AI-171 crash that took place in Ahmedabad in June last year and its aim is to complete the investigation in a time bound manner.
“All possible causes of the accident are being investigated and all efforts are being made to complete the investigation in a time-bound manner, as per ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) regulations,” the minister said in a written reply to a question in the House.
On June 12, 2025, Air India flight AI-171 crashed into a medical college just seconds after taking off from Ahmedabad airport, killing 241 passengers and crew and 19 others on the ground.
