'IPL is the best league to move ahead': Kyle Jamieson

New Delhi, April 6 (). New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson has not yet got a chance to play for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL. If Jamieson gets a chance, he is expected to get responsibility with the new ball. However, he admitted that the team has not decided his role yet. Jamieson praised IPL as the best league to grow as a cricketer.

In an exclusive conversation with , Kyle Jamieson said, “Can’t say anything about playing in the next match, but if I get a chance to play, I am sure that I will get the responsibility of handling the new ball. However, as far as role clarity is concerned, there is no clarity on it due to not being a part of the last 2 matches, but I think bowlers should have flexibility. Nowadays, probably every bowler is like this.”

Jamieson said of DC fast bowler Mukesh Kumar, “I think what Mukesh pointed out, we all have our strengths and you try to stick to those. Mukesh did it brilliantly in the last match. I think, when people are hitting you for boundaries, it is very easy to get under pressure and try to change and think that you have to do something different. It is almost a character strength thing, but I just I will stay there. I know that is my strength. This is a different thing.”

Jamieson was talking about Mukesh Kumar bowling on his length like Hazlewood.

Praising the IPL, Jamieson said, “For me, it’s the biggest tournament in the world. So you always want to be a part of it. You learn a lot. I think now even after playing a lot of cricket, you are constantly trying to learn and grow. Being involved in the IPL is an inspiration.”

He said, “The environment here is good. We are trying to give ourselves a chance to take the game forward. If you play in the most high-pressure environment, this is a platform where you can test your talent. There is an opportunity here to grow as a player despite the pressure and reap the rewards.”

Jamieson took 9 wickets in 9 matches for RCB in IPL 2021 and 5 wickets in 4 matches for Punjab Kings in IPL 2025.

In IPL 2026, Jamieson was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 2 crore.
