ISL 2025-26: Odisha FC beats SC Delhi 2-1

New Delhi, May 8 (). Taking advantage of a brilliant start, Odisha FC defeated Sporting Club Delhi (SC Delhi) 2-1 in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 on Friday. This match between the two teams was played at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

From the very beginning of the match, Odisha FC played aggressively and took the lead by scoring two goals in the initial minutes. The first goal for the team was scored by Suhair Vadakkapedika in the fourth minute. He received a brilliant cross from Sanathoi Singh Hekrujam, on which he made an excellent header and sent the ball into the goal post.

After this, in the 13th minute, Lalrinfela (Mafela) doubled the team’s lead by scoring the second goal. Lalthathanga Khaulhring gave him a brilliant pass, on which Mafela made a powerful shot and put the ball in the net. Delhi goalkeeper Nora Fernandes failed to stop this shot.

After falling behind by two goals, SC Delhi tried to make a comeback. The team created many chances in the first half, but Odisha’s defense remained very strong. Matija Babovic and Lamgoulen Gau tried to score goals, but could not succeed. Odisha FC was leading 2-0 at half time. In the second half, SC Delhi adopted a more aggressive style. The team fielded Julio Rivas to strengthen its attack. After this, Delhi continued to put pressure.

In the 58th minute, Mohammad Aimen created a great chance, but Odisha goalkeeper Anuj Kumar made a brilliant save. Gradually, scuffles were seen in the match and players of both the teams were given yellow cards. Odisha FC made a big mistake in the 70th minute. Lalthathanga Khaulhring committed handball while clearing the ball, after which SC Delhi got a penalty. In the 74th minute, Matija Babovic converted the penalty to make the score 2-1.

After this, Delhi made continuous attacks to equalize, but Odisha FC’s defense remained firm. Odisha also got a chance to score the third goal, but substitute Karthik Hantal missed an easy chance. SC Delhi used its full strength in the last minutes of the match. Julio Rivas and Sourav K scored several tries, but Odisha FC maintained their composure. Delhi could not score a goal even in the extra seven minutes and Odisha won the match. With this win, Odisha FC has reached 11th position in the points table. The team now has 10 points in 11 matches. SC Delhi also remains at 10th position with 10 points, but the team’s goal difference is better.
