Jaipur. In a major action, the West District Police of the capital Jaipur has exposed an inter-state gang that kidnapped a couple, held them hostage and collected ransom worth lakhs of rupees, posing as rich businessmen from Dubai. Police arrested two accused including the main kingpin of the case and recovered huge amount of cash and illegal weapons from their possession. Disclosing the matter, DCP (West) Prashant Kiran said that the police teams showed promptness and arrested the accused.
Trap woven under the pretext of online property dealing
According to the police, this entire matter is related to an online fraud and kidnapping. The victim, Mrs. Vijay Lakshmi, came with her husband and lodged a complaint in this regard at the police station. He had posted an advertisement on a website to sell one of his properties. Seeing this advertisement, a person named Akhil contacted him. The cunning Akhil introduced himself as a very big and reputed businessman of Dubai, due to which the couple fell in love with him.
Took away on the pretext of showing the property, then kidnapped
After some time, accused Akhil came to Jaipur to meet the victim couple to finalize the deal. After this, on the morning of 2nd May, he took the couple with him on the pretext that he also had a luxurious property in Jaipur. He said that they should go and see the property and if they like it, they can exchange it for their property.
As soon as the couple went with him, the accused took them to an isolated place and held them hostage there. After this, he threatened the couple and started demanding money through different means. The vicious miscreants threatened the couple and collected a total of Rs 47 lakh 90 thousand. After somehow escaping from the clutches, the victims took refuge in the police on May 12.
Mastermind caught from Patna, cash and pistol recovered
Quick action of police: DCP Prashant Kiran said that as soon as the case was registered, special police teams were formed. Based on technical input, a team arrested key leader Akhil Kumar Mahiwal, 32, from Patna, Bihar. Meanwhile, the other team caught co-accused Wasim Akhtar alias Golu.
Police have recovered cash worth ₹ 44 lakh 50 thousand, a country-made pistol (illegal weapon), a luxury car (vehicle) used in the crime, other items worth ₹ 80 thousand from the miscreants.
According to the police, the main leader of this gang is of very vicious nature and has committed such incidents in other parts of the country also. Jaipur Police has appealed to the general public that if anyone has any information about this gang or its other associates, they should immediately share it with Jaipur Police.
