Jharkhand: First wife got angry when he got married for the second time, got her husband murdered, two arrested

Ranchi. Police disclosed the murder case of a person named Ranjit Mahato in Khunti district of Jharkhand a week ago. In this case, the police have arrested his first wife Sugi Devi and his nephew Sonu Mahato and sent them to jail. According to the police, the murder was committed due to family rivalry and dispute arising out of second marriage. There was a sensation in the area when a mutilated body of a person was found on the banks of Kadma pond near Dahupidi in Khunti district on October 31. The next day the body was identified as Ranjit Mahato, resident of Sonahatu, Ranchi. He lived in a rented house in Girjatoli, Mahavir Colony of Khunti city. SDPO Varun Kumar Rajak said on Friday that Ranjeet’s second marriage became the main reason behind his murder. He had married a woman named Renu Devi for the second time, due to which his first wife Sugi Devi was angry. Due to this rivalry, she along with her nephew Sonu Mahato and two other associates conspired to murder her husband.
After investigation, the police arrested Sugi Devi, resident of Dahugutu, Khunti and Sonu Mahato, resident of Amritpur. During interrogation, both of them confessed to the crime.
SDPO told that Sonu Mahato has a criminal history. On the trail of the arrested accused, the police recovered the weapon used in the murder, the petrol bottle and burnt remains of the clothes worn during the incident.
According to the police, the clothes were burnt to destroy evidence. This murder was revealed by the team formed under the leadership of SDPO Varun Kumar Rajak. The team included station in-charge Mohan Kumar, SI Sitaram Dangi, Aditya Kumar, ASI Anjana Meri Bada, technical branch and armed forces personnel. Police are continuously conducting raids to arrest two other absconding accused involved in this case.
