Jodhpur: District Collector Alok Ranjan took big action in industrial areas, gave strict instructions on jewelery revival and 'zero discharge'.

Jodhpur. District Collector Alok Ranjan conducted a comprehensive, multi-dimensional and fact-based inspection of the city’s industrial and drainage system on Wednesday. The main objective of this inspection was to assess the ground situation of revival of Jojri river, scientific disposal of industrial waste and pollution control. During this, top officials of Municipal Corporation, RIICO, and Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) were present. Major change in sanitation system: Observation of Mechanized Transfer Station The inspection started from the Mechanized Transfer Station located at Kajri. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Rahul Jain said that now the old system of garbage transportation in open dumpers has been abolished and hook loader and container based system has been implemented.
New system: Door-to-door garbage collection vehicles will now empty garbage directly at the transfer station.
First Phase: It has been started in selected wards (10, 11, 12, 20, 46, 47, 48 and 50) of Zone No. 2 and 3, from where the waste is being sent directly to KERU Yard.
Inspection and environmental standards of industrial areas
The Collector conducted a joint inspection of Light Industrial Area, Heavy Industrial Area and Basni. He inspected the treatment process at the CETP plants at Sangria and gave strict instructions that:
Under no circumstances should untreated water be discharged.
Industrial units must compulsorily adopt Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system.
Recycling of waste water should be given priority.
Jojri River Revival and Pipeline Project
Describing the revival of Jojri river as a top priority, the Collector directed RUDIP to speed up the closed conduit pipeline project. After completion of the project, industrial waste will directly flow to the plants and only rain water will flow into open drains.
strict stance on encroachment
The Collector took a tough stance on the encroachments that were hampering the development works. He directed the officials to immediately remove encroachments and complete all the projects with quality within the stipulated time frame.
Many officials including Vishnu Mittal, Prakash Jeerawala, Devendra Daga of Rajasthan Steel Industry and Ashok Sancheti, Jasraj Bothra, Nilesh Sancheti and Sangh Singh Nokh of Jodhpur Pollution Control and Research Foundation were present in the meeting.
