New Delhi, December 3 (). Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta said on Wednesday that on the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Union Health and Family Welfare, Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister JP Nadda will unveil his portrait in the Delhi Assembly building on December 25. Also, a photograph of Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya will be unveiled by the Minister in the Assembly.

These photographs will be installed with full respect in the Assembly building as a tribute to the extraordinary leadership, patriotic spirit of these two national icons and their invaluable contribution to the country.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a renowned politician, three-time Prime Minister and a renowned orator-poet, played an important role in building modern India. His forward-thinking leadership strengthened national security, pursued economic reforms, and enhanced India’s global stature.

Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya was a respected freedom fighter, education reformer and parliamentarian, who worked hard for India’s independence and social progress. He strongly opposed the repressive Rowlatt Act and delivered five historic speeches against it, one of which lasted six and a half hours. As a member of the Imperial Legislative Council (1910–1920), he delivered 240 speeches and later delivered 200 more speeches in the Central Legislative Assembly (1924–1930), creating a record of 440 influential speeches for the welfare of the country.

Speaker Vijendra Gupta said that putting up these photographs is a tribute to two great personalities, who dedicated their entire lives to the service of the country, democracy and respect. He emphasized that his inspirational journeys, patriotic values, fearless leadership and unwavering dedication will continue to guide all public representatives. He further said that the Delhi Assembly is all set to save and celebrate the legacy of the national heroes who shaped the destiny of India.
