Chennai. TVK leader and actor Vijay held a rally in Karur district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday. In this rally, 39 people died due to stampede, including 10 children and 16 women, while many were injured. The condition of some of them remains critical. Announcing on the social media platform X, he said that he would give compensation of Rs 20 lakh to the families of those killed in the accident. Also announced to give Rs 2 lakh to the injured.
Actor Vijay wrote in his message, “Thinking about what happened in Karur on Saturday, my heart and mind are very distressed. Amidst the immense sorrow of losing my loved ones, I do not have words to tell the pain that my heart is suffering. My eyes are moist and I am getting even more sad thinking about it.”
He further wrote, “The faces of all of you, with whom I have met, are roaming in my mind again and again. The more I think about those loved ones, the more I am unhappy. It is really an irreparable loss for us. No matter how much comforting, the loss of my loved ones is unbearable. However, as a member of your family, I want to provide Rs 20 lakh to all those families as a member of your family. Considering such a big loss, this amount does not matter.

The accident occurred on Saturday when thousands of supporters gathered to listen to Vijay’s address. The crowd kept increasing at the venue. Meanwhile, many people lost their lives in the stampede.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin described the incident as ‘serious and worrying’.
On the other hand, Karur Nagar Police has registered a case under sections 109, 110, 125B and 223 of BNS against several people including TVK West District Secretary Mathialgan, General Secretary Anand and Joint Secretary Nirmal Kumar. Sections 109 and 110 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) are related to attempt to murder and attempt to murder respectively.
