Thiruvananthapuram. Leader of opposition in Kerala Assembly V.D. Satheesan on Thursday alleged that the CPI(M) hatched a ‘criminal conspiracy’ to remove the name of 24-year-old Congress candidate Vaishna Suresh from the voter list in Muttada ward of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. Satheesan said, “Two senior CPI(M) leaders in Thiruvananthapuram were directly involved in this conspiracy. Some officials in the corporation, who are associated with CPI(M), also took part in this criminal act. The Election Commission should conduct a thorough investigation and form a special team to investigate, failing which the UDF will take legal action.” Satheesan said that the order issued by the State Election Commission to restore Vaishna’s vote also shows serious mistakes made at the official level. Acting on a complaint by a local CPI(M) leader, the corporation’s electoral registration officer took the unilateral decision.
Satheesan further said, “This officer actively helped the CPI(M) in its criminal conspiracy. The Election Commission itself has found that there was no reason to remove Vaishna’s name from the voter list. During the hearing, the officer did not pay attention to any of the documents submitted by Vaishna. In his absence, her vote was removed on the basis of the statement of a local CPI(M) leader. They dance to the tune of (M), they are not fit to be in office even for a moment. Those involved should be suspended and criminal cases should be registered against them.”
Satheesan warned that officers working as agents of the CPI(M) should remember that the CPI(M) will not remain in power forever, and the day will come when they will be held accountable. Well, after the authorities rejected his appeal, he approached the Kerala High Court, which criticized the way the authorities handled his petition and warned that if they did not take necessary action, the court would use its special powers. Subsequently, the district authorities returned his name to the voters’ list on Wednesday, and he filed his nomination papers on Thursday.
