Kolkata . National President of Bharatiya Janata Party and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda will participate in two important meetings in Kolkata. He will reach Kolkata on Wednesday night. Of these meetings, one will be administrative and the other political. A state committee member of the BJP said that on Thursday morning he will attend and address a health-related seminar in the city and will preside over a meeting organized by the BJP in the afternoon. After the meeting, he will leave for New Delhi on Thursday evening itself. “Earlier, our state president in West Bengal and party’s Rajya Sabha member Samik Bhattacharya had specifically called Nadda to be present at a party meeting organized by the party on the same day and address the party leaders and he had agreed to it,” the state committee member said.
The meeting will be held behind closed doors, where Nadda is expected to share his views on election strategy for the crucial state assembly elections this year.
At the same time, only last month, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had visited Kolkata for three days. Later this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the state for a two-day visit and address two rallies in two districts.
Now, Nadda’s tour is taking place amid the visits of Home Minister Shah and Prime Minister Modi, in which he will chair organizational meetings. Political experts say that these developments show how much priority the BJP leadership is giving to the preparations for the assembly elections.
During his three-day visit to Kolkata, the Union Home Minister gave some important advice to the state leadership of the BJP regarding preparations for the assembly elections and carrying forward the campaign.
The most important advice was to continuously counter the propaganda of Trinamool Congress, which is spreading fear and panic among the voters of Matua community about taking away their voting rights following the ongoing SIR in the state.
He also directed the key leadership of the state to organize regular interaction programs with the voters of the Matua community to assure them of the security of their voting rights and to allay their fears in this matter.
The state committee member said that apart from giving specific instructions on the Matua issue, the Union Home Minister has also directed the state leaders to continuously counter the propaganda being spread by the CPI(M)-led Left Front in West Bengal and some leaders of the state Congress that there is some secret agreement between the top leadership of the BJP and the Trinamool Congress.
