Leading companies will work closely with Indian innovators to develop responsible AI: Ashwini Vaishnav

New Delhi . Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Thursday said the world’s leading AI companies have shown a voluntary commitment to work together with Indian innovators for the development of responsible and inclusive AI in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Addressing leaders at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Vaishnav said, “Leading AI companies, together with India’s innovators such as Sarvam, BharatGen, Gyani and Socket, are making a set of voluntary commitments reflecting a shared vision for inclusive and responsible AI.” The understanding of the use of AI in the world will be furthered.
Additionally, it will strengthen multilingual and contextual assessment of AI systems to ensure that AI works effectively across languages, cultures and real-world use cases, especially in the Global South.
The Union Minister said that all these efforts together mark an important step towards shaping AI that is not only powerful, but also inclusive, growth-oriented and globally relevant.
This initiative places India at the forefront of building a Global South-led approach on AI governance. An approach that balances innovation with equity and real-world impact.
Earlier, while speaking in his keynote address at the summit, PM Modi said that AI is like a major technological change in the world. The only difference is that like before, it is not taking decades for new technology to arrive, rather this change is happening very fast.
He further said that today the journey from machine learning to learning machines is fast, deep and wide. We have to keep the vision big and fulfill the responsibility equally big.
Along with the present generation, we also have to worry about what form of AI we will hand over to the future generations. Therefore, the real question today is not what AI can do in the future. The question is what do we do with Artificial Intelligence currently.
