Srinagar . Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched a massive mass movement for ‘Drug-free Jammu and Kashmir’. The campaign was launched from M Stadium in Jammu, information about which was shared by the Lieutenant Governor’s office through the social media platform ‘X’. The target has been set to take this initiative to every village, town, city and home of the Union Territory, so that every section of the society can be connected to this campaign. The Lieutenant Governor’s office posted on the social media platform ‘X’ that a historic mass movement for ‘Drug-free Jammu and Kashmir’ was launched from M Stadium in Jammu on Saturday. We have voiced a resolve that will reach every village, every town, every city, every home and every heart of this Union Territory (UT), and fulfill our resolve to make this region drug-free.
The Lieutenant Governor said in his message that the next three months are extremely important. During this period, the campaign will proceed in six distinct phases—intensive awareness campaigns, youth-focused programmes, community engagement, strict law-enforcement, rehabilitation and evaluation. We will move forward with a ‘whole-of-government approach’ to free Jammu and Kashmir from the menace of drugs.
The ‘Drug Free Jammu and Kashmir’ campaign requires not only sympathy but collective action, because this is not an individual’s problem, but an entire society’s problem—this is not a tragedy of one family, but a challenge for all of us. Together, with unwavering resolve, we will fight this evil of drug abuse and defeat it.
He said that we firmly resolve that the administration will not allow any youth, any family, or any dream to drown in this deep darkness of drug addiction. I strongly believe that statistics related to drug addiction only show percentages and case files, but behind every statistic lies a living story, the struggle of a family and their pain.
