Former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has strongly criticized his country’s cricket team. Akhtar said that his current form is so bad that Pakistan’s women’s team can also defeat him. Speaking after recent disappointing results, Akhtar expressed deep concern over the instability and weak performance of the men’s team.
According to Akhtar, no player of the men’s team is living up to expectations and the recent record presents a disappointing picture. Pakistan has faced four defeats in the last four weeks. Three of these defeats came to the Asia Cup 2025 with three consecutive defeats against India, including the finals. Akhtar especially emphasized that Pakistan’s women’s team lost to India by 88 runs in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 match played in Colombo.
In that match, India scored a competitive score of 248 runs thanks to the fast innings of Harleen Deol (46 runs) and Richa Ghosh (35 off 20 balls). In response, Pakistan was piled on only 159 runs. India’s Kranti Gaur took three important wickets while bowling brilliantly. The match was not untouched by controversies. The non -shake between Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Pakistan captain Fatima Sana during the toss highlight the tension between the two teams.
Akhtar reprimanded Salman Agha
Akhtar described this conclusion as the weakness of the men’s team and said that if the changes were not made immediately, Pakistan will continue to lag at the international level. She also said in a satirical tone that while the women’s team has shown struggle continuously, the men’s team has constantly failed to perform well. This selection raises serious questions on policy, preparation and strategy. This sharp comment by the former fast bowler is a warning for Pakistan cricket. Akhtar said that if the men’s team does not make a strong comeback soon, then it will be even more lagging, even behind its own women’s team.
