New Delhi, May 10 (). Former West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee congratulated TVK chief Vijay on taking oath as the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. He expressed confidence that the development journey of the state will continue to move forward under the leadership of Vijay.

I am confident that under his leadership, Tamil Nadu will continue its journey of progress, people’s welfare and inclusive development. I wish him and his government every success in serving the public with full devotion and dedication.
Let us tell you that TVK chief Vijay took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in a grand ceremony organized at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered him the oath of office as CM. The oath-taking ceremony was attended by many national and regional leaders, including Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, film personalities, party workers and thousands of supporters.
After taking oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, the TVK chief said that I have got such a big responsibility, so I hope I will get some time. I will gradually work towards fulfilling the promises I have made. Your cooperation and patience is necessary for all this.
He said that I will ensure that the safety of women remains the top priority. From today onwards I will take every necessary step to control the drug culture. Similarly, I will work to improve law and order in the state. Whoever harassed or insulted me, all the eight crore people of Tamil Nadu are my own. Also, my first priority will be to improve basic facilities like education, health, roads and drinking water.
