Mamata Banerjee did not ask to resign, Yusuf Pathan released a video and told the truth

Kolkata. Amidst the news of Mamata Banerjee contesting from Baharampur Lok Sabha seat, a video of TMC MP Yusuf Pathan has surfaced. Through this video he told that Mamata Banerjee or any party leader has not asked him to resign from the post of MP. Yusuf Pathan released the video and said, “Hello friends, I want to share something with all of you. This news has been going viral for a long time that Mamata Banerjee has asked Yusuf Pathan to resign from the post of Baharampur Lok Sabha MP, so that she can contest the Lok Sabha elections. Mamata Banerjee never told me this. She did not say this even in the last meeting, nor did she ask any official party leader to tell me this.” Yusuf Pathan said that this is completely wrong. I am sad that there is no such official news, yet it is being discussed and debated on social media and in all media institutions. Mamata Banerjee or any party leader has not asked me to resign from the post of MP.
Let us tell you that Sourav Ganguly’s name was also coming up in this matter, on which he issued a clarification for all the media institutions.
A day earlier on June 6, Sourav Ganguly said in his statement that in a report published on June 4, 2026, it was claimed that he had contacted Yusuf Pathan on behalf of Mamata Banerjee. It was alleged in the report that he conveyed a message to Yusuf Pathan asking him to resign as MP from Baharampur Lok Sabha seat so that Mamata Banerjee could contest the possible by-election from there. It was also said in the news that Yusuf Pathan was not ready for this proposal.
Sourav Ganguly rejected all these claims outright and said that these allegations are completely false. He clarified that Mamata Banerjee never asked him to convey any kind of message to Yusuf Pathan. He said that no such request was made to him either regarding giving up his parliamentary seat or on any other political issue.
Ganguly said that he too never contacted Yusuf Pathan on any such issue. He stressed that he has not been involved in political matters between the concerned persons at any level.
