Imphal, 5 October (). Security forces in Manipur recovered two powerful improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Jiribam district on Sunday night. After this, both of them destroyed and postponed a major accident.
An official described the IED deactivation as an important success amid the ongoing tension in the state.
He said that on the basis of intelligence information, the soldiers of Assam Rifles have launched a search operation in the Makhabasti area of Ziribam, bordering southern Assam.
He said that two IEDs weighing 12-12 kg, three electric power sources weighing 500 grams and 12 meter cordex (explosion cord) were recovered in this campaign.
Given the sensitive nature of explosives, the bomb disposal team immediately destroyed them on the spot using service explosives, ensuring the safety of the local population. This seizure is considered very important for Manipur.
After the implementation of President’s rule on 13 February, security agencies are on high alert and are actively responding to the efforts of disruptive elements to destabilize peace in the region.
According to the official, on Sunday, the recovery of deadly explosives and their safe settlement shows the determination and effectiveness of the security forces in thwarting malicious efforts to spread chaos.
Officials believe that the timely action of Assam Rifles not only prevented the possible loss of life and property, but also gave a strong message to those trying to weaken peace efforts in Manipur.
