Mumbai A massive fire suddenly broke out on the tenth floor of Raheja Residency located in MG Complex in Vashi area of Mumbai at around 1 am on Tuesday night. Four people died in this accident, while 10 others were injured.
The injured have been admitted to MGM Hospital and Fortis Hospital in Vashi, where they are undergoing treatment. The dead also include a 5 to 7 year old girl and an 87 year old elderly woman. The fire department has brought the fire under control, but the cause of the fire is not yet known. Police and fire department teams are investigating the cause of the fire.
According to the information, the fire first broke out on the tenth floor and soon it spread to the 11th and 12th floors. During this time, the fire that engulfed six houses caused huge destruction. A total of 14 people were affected in the accident, out of which four died. One person among the dead was from the tenth floor, while the remaining three were residents of the 12th floor. The condition of the injured is said to be serious and they are undergoing treatment in hospitals.
Assistant Police Commissioner of Vashi Division, Adinath Budhwant, said, “As soon as information about the fire was received, the fire department and police teams immediately reached the spot. A total of 14 people were trapped in the accident, out of which four died. The fire has been completely brought under control.”
He further said that the initial investigation could not clarify the cause of the fire and it is being thoroughly investigated.
According to local people and eyewitnesses, the fire spread so fast that many people could not reach a safe place in time. Due to the prompt action of the fire department, the situation was prevented from worsening. This accident has spread panic in the area and concerns about safety have increased among the residents.
Police have registered the case and are taking the help of forensic experts to find out the exact cause of the fire. The local administration has assured all possible assistance to the affected families.
