Jaipur. A strange incident was seen in the executive committee meeting of Jaipur Municipal Corporation Greater on Saturday. Mayor Soumya Gurjar adjourned the meeting without notice, while the committee members and officials kept waiting for her for about one and a half hours.
There were no proposals related to cleanliness and development in the original agenda of the meeting. Only proposals for naming of roads, intersections and permanentization of employees were included. Some additional proposals were also to be included in it, among which was the proposal of Hindu Refugee Service Committee. This proposal was not included by the committee members and the Municipal Corporation Commissioner citing rules. The mayor’s husband, Rajaram Gurjar, is the general secretary of the Hindu Refugee Service Committee. The proposal demanded that the Municipal Corporation’s community center and Panchayat buildings be made available to the refugees free of cost for one year. After adjourning the meeting, the Mayor said that some proposals had been included in the agenda without his recommendation, while some old proposals were awaited for two years.
In this meeting, Tonk Road was named after Late. The proposal to name Bhairo Singh Shekhawat was also not included. Deputy Mayor Puneet Karnawat tried to include it in the additional agenda, but it was not approved, due to which the Deputy Mayor raised objection.
After this controversy, questions have started being raised on the proceedings of the Executive Committee in the Municipal Corporation and eyes are fixed on the Mayor’s next action.
