Mumbai, March 15 (). Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) unveiled the women’s edition of the T20 Mumbai League. The MCA took this decision after three successful seasons in the men’s league. Rohit Sharma, who is the face of the league, unveiled the trophies for the upcoming men’s and women’s editions in Mumbai on Saturday.
Rohit said that he is very happy to see the rising level of Mumbai cricket. This is not limited to just the IPL team, but the T20 Mumbai League has also given many young players an opportunity to progress. He told that many such players have emerged from this league, who first played T20 in Mumbai and later reached IPL teams and the Indian team. According to him, this league has become a big platform for the players to prove themselves.
Rohit also said that it is a great thing to organize this tournament again after the great success of the last season. He himself was associated with it last season and observed that organizing it was not an easy task. Credit should be given to all the members of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for making this league a success. This year the tournament has become even bigger, as three women’s teams have also been included in it. This will also give a good opportunity to women’s cricket to move forward.
Indian women’s cricketer Sayli Satghare told : “This is a big platform. I thank MCA for starting this league for women. I hope that in the future some more teams will be added and girls will get more opportunities. Cricket is like a religion in Mumbai. On the grounds, you will find kids playing cricket at any time of the day. SCA provides a good opportunity.”
However, Mumbai Indians Association has not yet announced the schedule of this tournament. Last season, this tournament was played in June, right after the IPL, in which many star players of Mumbai including Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav took part.
