Jaipur. The south-west monsoon has now become fully active in Rajasthan. For the last two-three days, thunderstorms, strong winds and rain are continuing in many districts of the state. Moderate to heavy rain was recorded in many areas of East Rajasthan during the last 24 hours. In the forecast released by the Meteorological Department for the coming week, monsoon activities are likely to continue in most parts of the state. Rajasthan Meteorological Department Director Radheshyam Sharma said that monsoon has advanced in most parts of eastern Rajasthan. East Rajasthan is likely to receive good rainfall for the next three to four days, while monsoon will remain active in most areas of the state and the atmosphere will remain moist. He said that except the border areas of western Rajasthan, thunderstorms and rains may continue for the next few days in most parts of the state. Due to the activation of monsoon, a drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius has been recorded in the maximum temperature, which has provided relief to the people from the heat.
According to the Meteorological Department, at present the northern limit of monsoon is passing through Udaipur, Ajmer and Jhunjhunu. It is likely to advance into the remaining parts of the state in the next two to three days, which will further increase the scope of rain.
The department said that due to the low pressure area formed around the north-western Bay of Bengal and Odisha coast and the seasonal trough line passing through south-western Rajasthan, moisture has increased in the state and rainfall activities have strengthened.
According to today’s forecast, there may be moderate to heavy rain with thunder in many areas of Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer, Bharatpur, Bikaner and Jaipur divisions. There is also a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in some districts of Kota and Udaipur divisions.
The Meteorological Department has predicted that monsoon will remain active in Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota, Udaipur and Ajmer divisions for the next 5 to 7 days. During this period, heavy to very heavy rains may occur in some areas of eastern and south-eastern Rajasthan. The administration has appealed to the people to remain alert in view of the possibility of waterlogging in rivers, drains and low-lying areas.
Apart from this, there is a possibility of increase in storm and rain activities in the coming days in many parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions.
