Bhagalpur, February 22 (). Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) scheme is no less than a boon for Swarn Sandhya Bharti, who is known as ‘Mushroom Lady’ in Bhagalpur district of Bihar.
The financial assistance received under this scheme not only changed the direction of their lives, but also made them self-reliant and a source of inspiration for thousands of women. So far, Swarn Sandhya has trained about five thousand women in mushroom production.
Swarna Sandhya Bharti, a resident of Khankitta village of Sabour block of Bhagalpur, told that she got a loan of Rs 10 lakh under the PMEGP scheme, with which she created the necessary infrastructure for mushroom production. He set up a production unit in his own home and started cultivating different types of mushrooms. Today, she is meeting the expenses of her children’s education with her annual income and fulfilling the needs of the family. He says that if this plan had not been found, his life would have remained the same struggle as before.
Swarn Sandhya said, “This scheme of Modi government has changed my destiny. Now we are not only producing mushrooms but are also training other people.”
He told that women continuously come to him for training and till now more than five thousand women have been taught the techniques of mushroom production. Due to this, many women have got the opportunity of self-employment and they have become financially empowered.
She said that this scheme has brought a big change in her life and she thanks PM Modi for this. Swarn Sandhya appealed that such schemes should be run continuously to make women self-reliant, so that more and more needy women can get benefits and they too can stand on their feet.
