Jammu . Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid), a major and holy festival of Islam, is being celebrated on Wednesday in Jammu and Kashmir. People of the Muslim community gathered in mosques early in the morning and offered namaz. On this occasion, people of Shia community gathered at Masjid Bathindi in Jammu and Kashmir and offered namaz. Namaz was also offered at Idgah situated on Residency Road. Sunni Islamic scholar and Shahi Imam of Jamia Masjid Khadi pond Mufti Inayatullah Qasmi said, “We wish everyone a very happy Eid. Eid is being celebrated in Jammu and Kashmir at this time. Namaz is being offered everywhere and we also pray that Allah blesses all of us with happiness, relief, peace, good health and prosperity.” Anjuman Shari Shiyan President Agha Syed Hassan Al Mosavi said a large number of people offered Eid-ul-Azha prayers at Markazi Imambara in Budgam and prayed for peace and prosperity in the region. He said, “Along with humanity all over the world, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Islamic world on this auspicious day. Today teaches us the lesson of compassion…”
Banihal MLA Sajjad Shaheen said thousands of people offered Eid-ul-Azha prayers at Banihal Eidgah while religious leaders called for peace, unity, brotherhood and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Auqaf member Mohammad Asghar Magare in Gundoh said that Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated with full enthusiasm and unity. Security was tight and prayers were offered for peace, harmony and economic development.
A local resident said, “Eid is a festival of happiness. My message to the people on this Eid is that all people across India should live together in brotherhood.” Another youth said, “On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, I extend my hearty greetings to all Muslims. I pray to Allah that Eid brings the message of happiness every year and we all live together with love and affection towards each other.”
