Kanpur . Dr. Shaheen’s ex-husband Zafar Hayat, arrested in Faridabad Terror Module, says that he never had any contact with Shaheen after the divorce. While talking to news agency on Wednesday, he said that it had been many years since our divorce. We got divorced in 2012. After this I never tried to contact him. There was never any question in my mind about meeting or contacting him again. Dr. Zafar Hayat said that we have two children, who are currently studying with me. Dr. Hayat and I had differences of opinion. Because of this we got divorced and we are no longer in touch with each other. Nor have I met Hayat.
Explaining the reason for the divorce, he said that his wife Dr. Shaheen used to constantly pressure him to go abroad and take up a job, with the argument that his lifestyle would be better there.
Hayat says that he used to reject this every time. He believed that when all his relatives were here, there was no point in going abroad. He personally had no intention of taking up a job abroad. Shaheen also tried many times to get a job abroad, but disagreements continued between husband and wife. This constant difference of opinion on the issue of moving abroad ultimately led to their separation and divorce.
He said that I had intermittent contact with the brother of my ex-wife (Dr. Shaheen). We kept talking sometimes, because he was studying medicine here. That’s why I used to talk to him.
Also, he completely rejected the news of doing business with his ex-wife’s brother and said that we are doctors, why would we do business? Our entire time is spent in treating patients. Lifestyle is very busy. In such a situation, there is no question of us doing any other business other than treating patients.
