Swiss police say that the explosion occurred in Crans-Montana city of Switzerland. Police has reached the spot and is taking the injured to the hospital. The bar caught fire after the blast. Many people were trapped in the fire. Swiss police rescue teams are removing them from the bar and sending them to the hospital.
According to the police, New Year parties were going on in the bar and there was a huge crowd there when the blast occurred. Swiss police said Thursday morning that the blast occurred at a luxury alpine ski resort in Crans-Montana. “The explosion occurred for unknown reasons,” Gaetan Lathien, a police spokesman in the Valais canton in southwestern Switzerland, told agencies, according to Swiss media.
“Many people have been injured and many have died,” he said. He said the blast occurred around 1:30 a.m. at Le Constellation, a bar popular with tourists, as people were celebrating the New Year.
